JIK strengthens its last line of defense for next season by signing Czech goalkeeper Karel Hodik. With international experience, a clear playing identity, and strong development in recent years, he arrives as an important addition as the club continues to build for the future

Sport Director Fredrik Kronander is pleased with the signing and highlights both quality and character in JIK’s new goalkeeper:

- Karel is a goalkeeper who has developed very well in recent seasons and has already shown he can perform at the international level. We are very happy he chose JIK and is ready to take the next step in his career with us.

Hodik joins from the Czech top league, the Livesport Superliga, where he has played for the past five seasons. During his career he has become a junior world champion, reached the Czech Cup final, and recently represented the Czech Republic in the World Championship qualifiers. Much of his development took place at Florbal Chodov, a club he speaks about with great appreciation.

- Chodov shaped me not only as a goalkeeper, but also as a person. It’s where I grew into the player I am today, he says.

When describing his playing style, Hodik emphasizes structure, calmness, and efficiency:

- My style is quite specific and maybe a bit unique because of my physical presence. I try to use my strengths as much as possible and rely on positioning and control. I’m a more passive goalkeeper who focuses on efficiency rather than unnecessary movement.

He also highlights his ability to read the game and contribute to the team’s transitions:

- I try to help the team not only by making saves, but also by starting quick and effective counterattacks with my distribution.

The move to Sweden and the SSL represents a major step in his career:

- It’s a huge challenge for me. The SSL is the best league in the world, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to compete at that level. I also see it as a chance to represent Czech floorball abroad in the best possible way.

Looking ahead to his first season with JIK, Hodik’s ambitions are clear: to be as useful to the team as possible and deliver consistent, strong performances and help JIK get back to where the club belongs.

While the exact moving date is not yet set, he hopes to join the team early in the summer:

- As soon as all the practical things are sorted out, I’ll come. I hope to join as early as possible so we can build good chemistry from the start.

With his experience, mindset, and style of play, Karel Hodik arrives in Jönköping as a goalkeeper with both proven quality and exciting potential. JIK looks forward to welcoming him to the club—and to seeing him between the posts this autumn.
